Our first full week here seems to have passed extremely quickly, and we were keen to make the most of the weekend.
On Saturday, shopping in the Fort Greene park farmers’ market was followed by brunch at Sun in Bloom, a lovely little cafe specialising in gluten free and vegan food. We then spent several hours in the Brooklyn Museum, where the collection of American art was of particular interest (they do also have a wide-ranging collection of art and artefacts from across the globe, but we’ve been rather spoiled by the British Museum so were perhaps less impressed by it than we should have been!).
Sunday’s main event was a walk through the shopping precincts of downtown Brooklyn and the more exclusive environs of Brooklyn Heights to reach the waterfront area with its parks and walkways, where we enjoyed great views of Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, and glimpsed the Empire State and Chrysler buildings too.
