It’s all been rather dramatic here over the last couple of days, though as it turned out we picked an excellent part of Manhattan to live in and, as far as we were concerned, it was ultimately a bit of a non-event. Note to anyone considering moving here – check out the evacuation areas map first!
New York is looking particularly grey today after a weekend in sunny Miami, but actually I’m glad to be back. Whilst it was fantastic to have the chance to go, and I did enjoy the beautiful weather, I have to say I found Miami to be quite a strange place, though I’m not entirely sure I can explain why.

We picked up the keys for our new apartment on Saturday, and spent almost the entire weekend shopping for things to put into it. Ikea did particularly well out of us, despite stealing the whole of Sunday morning and ruining our lunch plans, so we spent yesterday afternoon building and arranging our purchases:
