A tale of two Christmases, part 1

As I’ve blogged previously, the run-up to Christmas in New York seemed to start at Thanksgiving and continued throughout December as more lights and decorations appeared every day. As we were going to be away for the day itself (of which more in part 2), we decided to keep our own decorations to the minimum.

We had booked flights out on Sunday 23rd, so Saturday 22nd seemed like the perfect day to have our own pre-Christmas celebration, with our traditional champagne cocktails, a tasty meal and, of course, opening presents. In a slight break with tradition, we started the morning by going for a run in grey and chilly Central Park, and as if on cue a few tiny flakes of snow fell whilst we were out – the perfect start to a delightfully festive day.
