As we say goodbye to our latest set of visitors, I thought it might be interesting to note down what we did with them whilst they were here (if nothing else it serves as a warning of the sort of itinerary we inflict on people – comfortable walking shoes essential!).
Brunch at Blue Note jazz club, walk along Bleecker Street, Chelsea Market, the High Line, Macy’s, the Morgan Library, NYPL, Grand Central Station, St Bart’s (with bonus mini organ recital), drinks at the Stag’s Head pub, dinner at a Mexican restaurant near our apartment. (At a shade over 5 miles this was quite a modest little walk, by our standards…!)
Wall Street, the 9/11 memorial, Battery Park, takeout lunch in the sunshine, Times Square, MoMA, Tiffany’s, Bloomingdales, Chinese for dinner, Chicago on Broadway.
The Metropolitan Museum (including the Renaissance, 19th & 20th Century, Modern and Contemporary galleries, lunch in the American wing cafe, the Temple of Dendur), walking in Central Park (plus coffee with unexpected live jazz by the boat pond), the Frick Collection, drinks at the Press Lounge rooftop bar, dinner at an Italian restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen (then they went up the Empire State Building whilst we went home to bed!).
