For July 4th this year, we were lucky enough to be invited to a firework-viewing party at UN Plaza. A friend of ours lives in a building with the perfect view down the Hudson, and after a couple of very pleasant hours eating, drinking and chatting in her apartment, we all eagerly headed up to the roof.
It wasn’t long before the show began, with predictably spectacular effects:
Unfortunately it was a hot and heavy night, and a giant cloud of smoke quickly developed:
It started to look somewhat apocalyptic…
… until thankfully a light breeze came along and dispersed at least some of it, so we could see most of the end of the display.
Fireworks aside, it was also a treat to be up above the city, and I enjoyed looking out across the lights just as much as the show itself!
