Escaping Manhattan during the summer months is a storied (and sensible) pursuit, and those of us who can’t afford to take a cottage or beach house for the whole of July and August remain enviously in situ. The Berkshires (pronounced berk, not bark) are a range of hills up in Massachusetts which have long provided a summer retreat from New York and Boston, and we were delighted when some good friends invited us to drive up with them last Friday for a weekend break. Doesn’t time fly…

I can’t quite believe it’s been so long since my last post – the last month or so has just flown past. As usual we’ve been keeping busy with all sorts of things, so what follows is just a few highlights. (We did also have a 2 week trip to England in that time, but all I’ll say about that is how lovely it was to catch up with as many friends and relations as we could cram in to the timeframe.)
